So, I'm home.

I spent 10 days on Oahu, and did.... a whole lot of nothing (I mean, I was in a wedding and all, but that's different). I like it that way. I decompressed a lot, my brain is working at full-throttle again. I read a lot of good books. (There is now another book that I think people should read. Janet Tashjian's "The Gospel According to Larry". So funny. I was laughing at Greek root jokes. It's that good. (Shush! They were funny, I promise.)) I did a bunch of writing, and ran more than I think I have in most months of the rest of the summer.

So, now I've been home less than 24 hours. And I've typed up a scholarship essay (wrote it while I was away), am still looking for a blue pen (the daytimer this year, following Emily's example, will be colour coded. Since "blue" was a chosen colour, I need to find a blue pen. Another conference to write in.), but I've also, I think, began the creation of a scholarship bursary funds for Model Legislature and Model Parliament in the spring. Not bad for 24 hours.... now to set everything else up. (Storytelling festival volunteering, priority lists for Rhodes letters, appointments with the photographer, the aesthetician for a facil, and the stylist for a haircut (if I need to submit postcard-size photos, I may as well submit good ones), harassing Mike Chalk about the inauguration of the university's new president in September (when you need a letter from the president of the University to get a Rhodes, you may as well know the woman herself, and the Gold Key members are supposed to be running the whole thing anyhow), coffee with past Rhodes laureates... (Monday brings other pieces of work... calling Visa as the Sheraton in Greensboro double-charged me for hotel costs there, talking to the internship coordinator as Radio Canada is on strike, calling the University of Ottawa AGAIN, so that I can finally get my credits from early June).

It's sad. There's not been a single class yet. My Daytimer contains no paper and assignment due dates. No exams. No shifts for work. No parties/social excursions (if you exclude Ali's wedding reception which has been planned for months). And still, you can't find a week without somewhere I need to be, something I need to submit. Ah well, that's what it's like when you're moving at the speed of life.

I love the writing in this lj entry of yours "moving at the speed of life" is so totally true, and really quite well written!

Anywho... I hope that I'll be able to see you a bit this year... what with your traditionally busy life (I'm trying to tone some things down this year, and step others up again *shrugs*).
